This dynamic role combines athletic engagement with Gospel outreach, using creative sports programming to connect with Japanese youth and share Christ's love. You will design and lead innovative sports-based activities while building meaningful relationships that open doors for discipleship and spiritual growth.
Responsibilities
Sports Program Development
Design and lead dynamic sports activities and tournaments for youth outreach.
Develop age-appropriate programs that engage different skill levels and interests.
Create seasonal sports camps and clinics that incorporate Gospel messaging.
Adapt popular Japanese sports and activities for ministry purposes.
Coordinate equipment, facilities, and logistics for various sports events.
Evangelism and Discipleship
Share Bible stories and Gospel truths through sports metaphors and activities.
Build meaningful relationships with participants and their families.
Mentor young people through both athletic challenges and spiritual growth.
Follow up with interested individuals for continued discipleship.
Partner with local churches to connect youth with ongoing faith communities.
Community Outreach
Organize sports-based outreach events in parks, schools, and community centres.
Collaborate with local organizations to expand ministry reach.
Participate in community festivals and events with sports demonstrations.
Build relationships with coaches, teachers, and community leaders.
Represent the ministry positively in all community interactions.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with ministry team members to integrate sports programming with overall mission goals.
Participate in team planning meetings and ministry strategy sessions.
Support other ministry activities and events as needed.
Contribute to team devotions and spiritual development activities.

Criteria
Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Experience doing sports and related activities is preferred.
Flexibility and adaptability for cross-cultural ministry.
Willingness to learn Japanese language and cultural customs.
Respect for local traditions while maintaining Gospel clarity.
Collaborative spirit and servant leadership attitude.
Previous experience in sports ministry, coaching, or youth ministry.
Appropriate-level Japanese language skills or strong commitment to language learning.
First aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

This is a support-based position that involves raising financial support through ministry partners for salary and other expenses.
