For more than 40 years, Camp Peña de Horeb has been ministering to the people of Spain by providing a place for rest and retreat, but more importantly by creating a beautiful space for people to meet Jesus first-hand. The camp is located approximately two hours northeast of Madrid. The Peña de Horeb worker is a versatile position responsible for overseeing and maintaining all physical aspects of the camp property while supporting dining operations. This role combines facilities management, maintenance, dining hall coordination, landscaping, and kitchen assistance to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for all camp participants.
Responsibilities
- Working at the camp can include some of the following:
Facilities Management
Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of all camp buildings, grounds, and infrastructure.
Conduct regular inspections to identify repair needs and maintenance issues .
Manage camp inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
Coordinate with external contractors when specialized repairs are needed.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and health standards.
Maintenance & Repairs
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on camp buildings and equipment.
Handle minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and coordinate prompt solutions.
Maintain proper function of camp utilities (water, electricity, waste management).
Respond quickly to emergency maintenance situations.
Dining Hall Operations
Oversee dining hall setup, operation, and clean-up for all meals.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining facilities.
Manage dining hall schedules and staff assignments.
Ensure proper food service and safety protocols are followed.
Coordinate special dietary needs with kitchen staff.
Landscaping & Grounds
Maintain campgrounds, including lawns, gardens, and recreational areas.
Perform regular landscaping duties including mowing, pruning, and planting.
Manage waste disposal and recycling programs.
Ensure pathways, roads, and common areas are clean and safe.
Maintain swimming areas, sports fields, and outdoor recreation spaces.
Assist with food preparation, serving, and clean-up as needed.
Support inventory management of kitchen supplies and food items.
Help maintain kitchen equipment in good working order.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Assist with special meal preparations and events.

Criteria
Essential:
Ability to use various hand and power tools safely.
Valid driver's license.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Flexibility to work varied hours including weekends and evenings during camp season.
Basic Spanish language proficiency (or willingness to learn).
Preferred:
Previous camp experience
Previous experience in facilities management, maintenance, or related field
Certification in facility management, maintenance, or related field
Experience with commercial kitchen operations
Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance
Swimming pool maintenance certification
First aid and CPR certification
Knowledge of basic building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC)

This is a support-based position that involves raising financial support through ministry partners for salary and other expenses.
