Area Representative

Rev Stephen Scholes

I was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, into a strong, Christian home. I came to know the Lord as a teenager and was called to the mission field with my wife, Jean in my early twenties. We successfully completed a missions training programme at the Lebanon Missionary Training School in Berwick-on-Tweed and applied to OMS for a mission appointment. We were appointed to serve in Haiti in the West Indies heading up the evangelism and church planting ministry, along with the Evangelical Church of Haiti. We served in Haiti until 1990, when we returned to the UK for our children's high school education.

Settling in York, the children attended local schools while I served as a regional representative until 1993 when, as a family, we moved to the Heysham Free Methodist Church on the North West coast of England, where I pastored various churches within the denomination. I finished my ministry with pastoring Cleveleys Community Church for ten years.

Life has had many challenges; I lost my first wife and eldest son to cancer and a grandson to an auto-immune disease. However, through it all, God has been immensely faithful, especially in bringing Debbie and I together. We were married 16 years ago. We have enjoyed ministering together in various opportunities that God has brought our way and now worshipping at City International Church in Preston.

I am delighted to offer myself for service and ministry throughout the North of England and would love to hear from you if we could come to bring ministry, be it at a mid-week, Sunday service or weekends as well as visiting at universities and colleges, so that, in working with you, we may see many people called of God to go to the fields which are white unto harvest.
