HOLDING AND PROTECTING YOUR DATA
In order to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) which is due to come into force from 25 May 2018, we, OMS UK, Registered Charity No SC042930, want to inform you about the information we hold.
In order for us to function and operate as a Charity we need to hold and process some personal information, that you have already provided to us. The legal basis that apply to the way we use your data are ‘contract’ and ‘Legitimate Interests’ of the Mission, according to GDPR. The types of information we use, and retain, on our restricted, and secure databases include; names, addresses, telephone numbers and contact details, including email addresses. Where appropriate we also hold bank account and contribution details so that the Mission can fulfil its work, for the purposes of supporting our Missionaries.
We use the information in two main ways. The first is to advise and to inform you of our work and witness through our mail shots (normally four times a year). We currently use a third party to distribute the hard copies of our literature and this information, comprising names and postal addresses is held strictly by them for this purpose only. Secondly, where you contribute financially to our work, we use the income information to allocate your contributions to the appropriate Missionary account and, if appropriate, to reclaim Gift Aid at your direction.
We do not share your information with any other third party and your information is used, only for the purposes for which it was tendered, i.e. for the legitimate operation of the Mission. All the data we hold, will not be shared with any other third party, without your consent, unless we are required to by law. Further information will be available in our full Data Protection Policy, (currently being revised).
Should you want to change any of the information we hold about you, please contact us on 01612837992, or 02890652040 and we will be happy to update our records. At any stage should you can want your information removed from our system just advise us accordingly, by writing, to the office address.
If you want to know what personal information we hold about you, you can make a ‘Subject Access Request’ by contacting the Executive Director, in writing. GDPR also requires us to inform you that if you are not happy with the way that we, OMS UK, handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office.
